Time-traveler T-shirt, 2nd Fund Raiser goal, Facebook, and more MarsCon 2014 Dementia Track news!

FUND RAISER HIT ITS INITIAL GOAL! SECONDARY GOAL: $500

Thank you so much to everyone who bought the album & ordered the new logo t-shirt! Thanks to your generosity, we’ve raised the initial goal of $1,000 to cover the hotel room costs for our out-of-town, non-Guest-Of-Honor performers! Huzzah and hooray! 😀

Our secondary goal is to raise an additional $500. This is to reimburse myself for other Dementia Track expenses that I have paid for out of my own pocket, including the dealer room fees for ‘Table 27’, the printing of the Fund Raiser CDs, screenprinted logo t-shirts, new signage, and other expenses. So if you haven’t ordered the 4-hour long 2014 album on CD or MP3 full of live concert tracks from MarsCon 2013, please consider picking up this year’s collection. It is available along with all of our previous year’s collections in the Fundriaser Shop.

ORDER THIS YEAR’S DEMENTIA TRACK CARTOON T-SHIRT NOW!

MarsCon 2014’s theme is “Time is the key”. So, I drew all the Dementia Track participants as time travelers from fandom and pop-culture and arranged them on a T-shirt. (see the image at http://tinyurl.com/MC14DTshirt ) You can get the shirt from Dementia Radio’s page at Spreadshirt: http://dementiaradio.spreadshirt.com . Remember, we will not have this t-shirt for sale at the convention itself, so if you want to have one to wear at the convention, you need to order it by about February 14th to ensure it gets shipped to your home in time.

Please note also that nobody (besides Spreadshirt) is making any money off of these shirts. They are not a part of the Dementia Track Fund Raiser, they are just being made because the fans wanted nifty shirts to wear. Special thanks to “Blasted Bill” Putt for setting up the shirts for us on the Dementia Radio Spreadshirt account. For a closer look at the individual drawings, visit the Performers page.

WEBSITE GETS MAKEOVER, NEW LOGO COLORED BY LINDSAY SMITH!

Our webmistress Sara Trice has given http://marscondementia.com an update, which includes our new tag-line “The World’s Longest-Running Fandom Convention Comedy Music Concert Series”. Also, I asked Lindsay Smith if she’d do a professional coloring job to the new MarsCon Dementia Track logo I designed, and it looks phenomenal! So check out what an awesome job they both did!

THE MARSCON DEMENTIA TRACK NOW HAS A FACEBOOK PAGE!

Why? Because internet! We’re currently at 95 likes, so please come by and ‘Like’ our page and join in the discussion as the excitement builds towards March 7th! It’s at http://www.facebook.com/marscondementia .

DEMENTIA RADIO ROOM PARTY STILL NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

The folks of Dementia Radio .org are doing another room party celebrating their station, it’s DJs, and the comedy music it plays. However, they are in need of volunteers to help for a couple of hours each at the party. Nate Boi, the guy in charge of the party, said this regarding volunteering: “When I say “help for a couple of hours”, that’s pretty much what I mean. Just be in the room for two to three hours, check IDs, hand out drinks, and generally make sure no one’s doing anything stupid. I don’t need a *lot* of stuff from you. But I do need you to commit and show up.” People interested in volunteering should email me at thegreatlukeski@gmail.com . Thanks.

Why so high? MUSIC GUEST OF HONOR HENRY PHILLIPS

Also, DR. DEMENTO and “UNDER THE SMOGBERRY TREES”
DOCUMENTARY FILM ABOUT “THE DR. DEMENTO SHOW”
CREW WILL BE ATTENDING/FILMING AT MARSCON 2014!

What do you want me to do about it?

Since the late 90’s, comedian & musician Henry Phillips has been performing his brilliant satirical songs at comedy clubs all across the nation. As well the nationally syndicated radio program “The Bob & Tom Show”, he has also appeared on “Comedy Central Presents” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. His award winning semi-autobiographical comedy film “Punching The Clown” is currently available on Netflix and iTunes. He’s released a handful of albums over the years, which include such hit songs from “The Dr. Demento Show” as “On The Shoulders Of Freaks”, “Talking Again”, “Girlfriend”, “Alone Again”, “L. A. Dream”, and fan favorites “Sweet Little Blossom Of Mine”, “Fresh Out Of Blues”, “Guitar Pill”, and “Jerkin’ Around”. We’re very excited to have Henry Phillips as MarsCon 2014’s Music Guest Of Honor.

Wind up your projector!

We are also incredibly psyched to announce that the crew from “Meep Morp Studios” who are currently producing the documentary film “Under The Smogberry Trees: The True Story Of Dr. Demento And Mr. Hansen” will be attending and filming at MarsCon 2014. MarsCon’s comedy music track, named the ‘Dementia Track’ after former Guest of Honor Dr. Demento, has grown to become the biggest annual gathering of Dr. Demento Show fans and performers over the past decade, and we’re ready to show the Meep Morp crew how we celebrate our comedy music fandom! They’ll be doing a Q&A on the main stage and talking about production on the Demento documentary, so get your questions ready!

UPDATE 11/5/13: DR. DEMENTO will also be attending MARSCON 2014!

Meep Morp Studios is bringing the good Doctor back to his home town of Minneapolis to film him where he grew up. So when they do their MarsCon 2014 main stage Q&A about the making of the documentary, Dr. Demento will be joining them on stage for your fan questions! He will also have a scheduled autograph session, so bring your LPs, CDs, and other mad music memorabilia. Yes, 10 Years after he was our Guest Of Honor, Dr. Demento is returning for a visit and to join in the fun of the MarsCon Dementia Track!

The Music Guest Of Honor Henry Phillips as well as Meep Morp Studios’ and Dr. Demento’s attendance are being brought to MarsCon 2014 due to a very generous donation from the comedy music streaming internet station, Dementia Radio, in particular this year from benefactor Wayne ‘WildCard’ Garmil. So please thank him and Dementia Radio for sponsoring MarsCon’s Music Guests Of Honor for 3 years running.
